Isleta Pueblo Gov. Alvino Lucero said he wants his tribe's elementary school placed on the Bureau of Indian Affairs priority construction list.

Lucero said the school's portable buildings need to be replaced with permanent facilities. He took Secretary of Interior Gale Norton and Assistant Secretary Neal McCaleb on a tour yesterday.

The BIA list currently has 20 schools, over half of which have received, or will receive, funds in 2001, 2002 and 2003 for construction projects.

McCaleb will be updating the list soon.
