A bill that would outlaw all racial- or ethnic-based mascots at public schools exempts reservations.

The Hoopa Elementary School on the Hoopa Valley Elementary would not have to change its name. Its mascot is the Braves.

A reported 100 schools would be affected. They would not have to change their mascots immediately and would be able to tap into a $1 million fund.
