The Senate Indian Affairs Committee holds the first in a series of oversight hearing on sacred sites next week.

The session will discuss federal agency impacts on sacred lands. Topics on the agenda include the Missouri River, the Columbia River and Black Mesa mining activities in Arizona

Witnesses will include representatives from various agencies including the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Department of Defense.

Leonard Selestewa, president of the Black Mesa Trust, an organization aimed at stopping mining on Hopi lands in Arizona, is scheduled to testify next week as well.
