BIA advises new Seminole election

MONDAY, MAY 27, 2002

Assistant Secretary Neal McCaleb last week urged the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma to hold new tribal elections.

McCaleb met with Ken Chambers, the tribe's elected chief, and Jerry Haney, the ousted chief, in Oklahoma City on Friday. The Bureau of Indian Affairs recognizes Haney but Chambers remains in power.
