The chairman of the Tohono O'odham Nation of Arizona attributes a nearly 100 percent increase in income on the reservation to the tribe's casino.

The tribe employs 1,300 at its gaming facility. About half are tribal members of members of other tribes.

Despite the gain, income on the reservation is far below the state average. The case was the same on the Pasqua Yaqui Reservation.
