Archaeologists have unearthed sites in Florida dating back 7,000 years.

The sites often contain fragments of fossilized coral, which was used to make tools. Archaeologists believe Indian ancestors traveled far to obtain the coral as evidenced by its discovery at sites in the interior of the state.
