After years of being ignored, Western scientists and governments are paying attention to Inuit warnings, observations and traditions about climate change in the Arctic.

Inuit people observe changes in the behaviors of wildlife and environment that are used to determine weather conditions. Over the years, they have noticed differences that point to the effects of global warming.

Canadian officials are required to take into account traditional knowledge when making land decisions. They must also consult the Inuit on environmental matters.
