MONDAY, JUNE 4, 2002 The Kaw Nation of Oklahoma has turned an ancestral parcel of land into a park. The tribe used to call Kansas its home. The Al-Le-Ga-Wa-Ho Heritage Memorial Park was established there to preserve part of the land Chief Al-Le-Ga-Wa-Ho desperately tried to hold onto before being removed to Oklahoma. The tribe has continually dispelled rumors that it will build a casino on the 158-acre site. The tribe plans to build a visitors center and undertake a number of projects. Get the Story:
