WEDNESDAY, JUNE 5, 2002 A commission assigned to review a New York school's "Chiefs" mascot failed to agree on a resolution. The commission spent six months studying the issue. No consensus could be reached on whether to retire the Southern Cayuga Chiefs, keep it or modify some of its symbols. In contrast, the Ossining Board of Education in Ossining voted unanimously last night to eliminate all Indian-related mascots and logos. Get the Story:
