Shoshone settlement bill pushed

THURSDAY, JUNE 6, 2002 Sen. Harry Reid (D-Nev.) will push a bill to disburse $128 million to members of the Western Shoshone Nation of Nevada. Reid believes the tribe has spoken with the results of a voter referendum held this week. The official count to accept the money was 1,647 to 156. A seemingly large number of tribal members, however, did not take part in the vote. Critics of the settlement said this shows the bill should not go forward. Get the Story:
