The Mississippi Band of Choctaws can run a car dealership, a state panel said on Wednesday.

The tribe was challenged by non-Indian dealers who claimed they would be at an unfair advantage. The Motor Vehicle Commission dismissed those concerns.

The car dealers hired former senator Slade Gorton to fight their cause. Gorton happens to work at the same law firm that represents the tribe.

The tribe's dealership is not located on trust land.
