Doctors in Montana are part of a multi-state study on fetal alcohol syndrome (FAS).

The Blackfeet Reservation is part of the three-year $7 million effort, which was funded by Congress through the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. FAS rates are considered extremely high in Indian Country.

The study intends to look at signs of FAS in children.
