Assistant Secretary Neal McCaleb has affirmed the traditional three-chief government of the St. Regis / Akwesasne Mohawk Tribe of New York, Steve Israel of The Middletown Times Herald-Record reports today.

In his "Casino Confidential" column, Israel quotes from a letter McCaleb wrote denying a reconsideration of a decision first made during the Clinton administration. Attorneys for the rival group plan to sue in response.
