Congress focuses on intercepted messages

THURSDAY, JUNE 20, 2002

A Congressional committee investigating the September 11 terrorist attacks discussed messages intercepted by the National Security Agency that warned of some sort of action.

The NSA was unable to translate the Arabic messages until the day after the attacks. Intelligence officials insisted they were too cryptic to mean anything anyway.

The messages were reported to be: "The match is about to begin" and "Tomorrow is zero hour."
