THURSDAY, JUNE 27, 2002

Elouise Cobell, the lead plaintiff in the Individual Indian Money (IIM) lawsuit, will meet with Navajo beneficiaries next week.

The Shii Shi Keyah (My Land) Association is hosting the July 2 meeting, which will take place at the Huerfano Chapter House in New Mexico. The chapter house is south of Farmington.

Cobell will provide an update on the case and related issues to Navajo account holders who are oil and gas royalty owners. These beneficiaries have been among the hardest hit by the Department of Interior's failure to protect Indian trust computer systems.

Cobell will be joined by Ervin Chavez, the president of the association. Navajo Nation Speaker Ed T. Begay is also on the agenda.

The meeting takes place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Contact the Shi Shi Keyah Association at 505.324.6830 for more information.
