MONDAY, JULY 1, 2002

The Atomic Safety and Licensing Board is holding final hearings on a proposed nuclear waste dump on the Skull Valley Goshute Reservation in Utah.

Three administrative judges are reviewing plans to store up to 44,000 tons of waste on the reservation. The waste would come from eight private utility companies that signed a contract with the tribe.

The three hearings take place this week.
