Nebraska farm interests are opposing a request by the Winnebago Tribe to regulate agricultural chemical use on the reservation.

The Nebraska Farm Bureau Federation and the Nebraska Agri-Business Association, an industry group, questioned the tribe's authority over reservation land. They say 70 percent is owned by non-Indian farmers.

The tribe says it can do a better job at policing health threats than the Environmental Protection Agency or the state.
