State sides with tribe on nuclear suit

The state of Washington wants to join a federal lawsuit filed by the Yakama Nation and an environmental group.

The state plans to file a friend of the court brief over proposed Energy Department rules. The rules would change the definition of nuclear waste and thus affect cleanup at the Hanford Nuclear Reservation in Washington.
