Senate panel moves on women's treaty

THURSDAY, JULY 18, 2002 The Senate Foreign Relations Committee is voting today on the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women, an international treaty the Bush administration is opposing. The treaty was actually signed by President Jimmy Carter in 1980 but has not been ratified. Secretary of State Colin Powell, however, claims it is both vague and complex. Get the Story:
