Obituary: Mario Juruna Brazilian Indian leader

FRIDAY, JULY 19, 2002 Xavante tribal chief Mario Juruna died of complications related to diabetes on Tuesday. The Brazilian leader was 58. Jurana has been the only Native to serve in Brazil's Congress. His tribe saw a rapid change in its culture in the past few decades he was an outspoken advocate for tribal rights. Get the Story:
