Seven Native fire crews have been battling the Deer Point Fire in Washington, which has consumed more than 253,000 acres since it started July 15.

Members of the Quinault Nation, Zuni Pueblo, the Blackfeet Tribe and the Makah Nation are among the 1,000 fire fighters on the scene in Lake Chalan Valley. The Native crews represent more than a quarter of the groups fighting the blaze.
