N.M. Indians seek help at urban center

MONDAY, JULY 29, 2002 An estimated 40,000 Native Americans live in Albuquerque, New Mexico, ranking it high on the list of cities with large urban Indian populations. The Albuquerque Indian Center aims to serve the community through job training, substance abuse counseling, cultural programs and more. The center's annual budget is $390,000 but its executive director says $2.5 million to $3 million is needed. Get the Story:
