Federal judge upholds Indian gaming law

MONDAY, JULY 29, 2002

A federal judge today upheld gaming compacts the state of California entered into with California tribes.

Non-Indian card clubs in the Bay Area challenged the agreements and the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act (IGRA). U.S. District Judge David F. Levi said gaming on Indian reservations is legal.
