Court tosses challenge to Goshute nuclear

WEDNESDAY, JULY 31, 2002 A federal judge on Tuesday sided with a Utah tribe and private utility companies seeking to store up to 44,000 tons of highly radioactive nuclear waste on the Skull Valley Goshute Reservation. U.S. District Judge Tena Campbell said state laws which sought to discourage business with Private Fuel Storage (PFS), a consortium of eight companies, were largely invalid. She also upheld the the federal government's right to license the proposed facility. The state plans an appeal to the 10th Circuit. Get the Story:
