Ojibwe center experiences growing pains

THURSDAY, AUGUST 1, 2002 The Mille Lacs Ojibwe Tribe of Minnesota opened its Language and Cultural Center two years ago but tribal officials say not enough people are participating. The center was given $221,000 in tribal funds. But a tribal official said the budget has been overspent. The director of the center, Larry Smallwood, or Amik, says tribal leaders aren't providing enough support. Language and culture classes are the main offerings. Get the Story:
