The Nez Perce War of 1877 is being commemorated with a number of events this weekend.

The war was fought as the Nez Perce tried to flee to Canada. The Army was trying to force the tribe onto a reservation.

The Big Hole National Battlefield in Montana will host gathering of descendants of those who fought at the Battle of the Big Hole. Nez Perce tribal members will take part in other events to talk about Nez Perce history and culture.
