N.J. tribe hosts hoop dance competition

THURSDAY, AUGUST 8, 2002 The Powhatan Renape Nation of New Jersey hosts the Eastern North American Hoop Dance Championship this weekend. The event draws hoop dancers from all over the country. It will take place August 10 and 11. The tribe, which is recognized by the state of New Jersey, lives on the Rankokus Reservation, about 30 miles outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Get the Story:
