Mohegan Tribe considers enrollment

THURSDAY, AUGUST 8, 2002 The Mohegan Tribe of Connecticut is considering whether or not to close the tribal rolls. Voters mailed in a ballot to close membership to to all but the offspring of current tribal members. If approved, about one-third, or 500 members, of the tribe would stay on the rolls. Some fear the change will hurt adopted tribal members and cut off unusual but legitimate cases of enrollment. Get the Story:
