FRIDAY, AUGUST 9, 2002 Sherelle Lynne Walker, a member of the Navajo Nation, is midway through her walk across America. Walker turned 17 on the day of the September 11 terrorist attacks. She has turned the tragedy into one of of perseverance and compassion through "The Prayer Song," a song she performs in sign language at each stop of her journey. Walker started July 1 in San Pedro, California, and plans to arrive at the Vietnam Veteran's Memorial Wall in Washington, D.C., on November 11. She will then go to New York City for ceremonies there.
