MONDAY, AUGUST 12, 2002 Members of the Tohono O'odham Nation of Arizona voted down plans to build a $15.2 million museum in a tribal district. The museum was rejected by just 37 votes. Only 11 percent of eligible voters turned out, The Arizona Daily Star reports. The museum would have housed O'odham artifacts, including those which could have been repatriated. An initiative to house the museum in another tribal district is underway. Get the Story:
