Tribe sees double standard on border

The Tohono O'odham Nation spans two countries and tribal members say U.S.-Mexico border policy is breaking them apart.

The tribe's members are to be allowed free passage between Arizona and Mexico. But recent border policies have resulted in a clampdown, they say.

Tohono vice chairman Henry Ramon finds a double standard. The U.S. Border Patrol relies on the tribe to help stem the flow of illegal immigrants, he says, but won't do the same for his own people.

"The government wants something from us but they don't want to give us our due in return," he tells Newsday.
