Summit focuses on environmental issues

MONDAY, AUGUST 19, 2002

The Alaska Native Summit on Fish, Wildlife, Habitat and the Environment began on Sunday in Anchorage, Alaska.

The four-day event was called in response to environmental changes that Alaska Natives have noticed in recent years. Subsistence lifestyles are being affected.

The summit leads to the fifth annual "We the People" march for Alaska Native sovereignty.
