S.D. tribe seeks to protect river

The Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe of South Dakota is involved in discussions to protect the Big Sioux River.

Tribal members and tribal officials met last month to discuss water quality. They are concerned about medicinal and edible plants that grow on or near the river.

The tribe talked with farmers and local officials.
