Neb. gaming foes go to court

FRIDAY, AUGUST 30, 2002

Opponents of expanded gaming in Nebraska asked a state judge on Thursday to throw out a voter initiative to legalize video slot machines.

Gambling With the Good Life alleges the backers of the petition are not registered with the state. The group says keno operators are behind the drive.

If approved by voters in November, the initiative would allow tribes to operate the same games. Currently, the state prohibits operation of slot or slot-like machines.
