THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 5, 2002 Attorney General John Ashcroft plans to appoint two domestic violence critics to an advisory committee that oversees domestic violence, The Washington Post reports. Nancy M. Pfotenhauer is president of the Independent Women's Forum and Margot Hill is an IWF board member. The IWF has fought the Violence Against Women Act. The pair would now sit on the National Advisory Committee on Violence Against Women. Native women are victims of domestic violence at rates surpassing their counterparts. Native women are two and one-half times more likely to be victimized than White and Hispanic women, nearly twice as likely as African-American women and five and one-half times as likely as Asian women.
