First Nations want hate crime prosecution

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 11, 2002 A Canadian man faces hate crime charges for allegedly killing a 24-year-old Native woman. Cynthia Sanderson died after being run over by a pickup truck on August 31. The Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations says the driver, Anthony Barr, made racial comments before hitting her. Barr has been charged with criminal negligence causing death and driving under the influence of alcohol. Get the Story:
