President Bush issued an executive order on Wednesday to speed on environmental review of major transportation projects.

The order creates an interagency Transportation Infrastructure Streamlining Task Force with members made up of various federal agencies. The group will recommend removal of or changes to burdensome federal, state, tribal and local regulations.

The task force will not be open to tribes or non-federal entities. The order does direct the agencies to consult with Indian Country.
