Christopher Bighorse was failing high school before he discovered the joy of reading and writing. Now, the 18-year-old student has won a full scholarship to the University of Arizona.

Bighorse has had two of his poems published and is working on a novel. He volunteers as a librarian in Flagstaff.

Bighorse grew up on the Navajo Reservation. He plans to major in business management and English and possibly creative writing.
