A federal judge has been asked to hold Secretary of Interior Gale Norton in contempt of court for violating a settlement agreement over endangered manatees in Florida.

U.S. District Judge Emmett Sullivan has already issued a show cause order against Norton. She alleges the violation was merely a misunderstanding.

Sullivan is on the federal district court in Washington, D.C. U.S. District Judge Royce Lamberth sits on the same court and presides over the Indian trust debacle.
