A request to repeal Connecticut's casino law was rejected by state legislative leaders and Governor John Rowland (R).

Attorney general Richard Blumenthal, who has fought tribes on federal recognition, gaming and land-into-trust, wanted a special session to get rid of the "Las Vegas Nights" law. He believes a repeal will prevent future tribal casinos, a view disputed by legal and tribal observers.
