Fort Peck newspaper to be honored

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 3, 2002 After years of receiving accolades from the journalism community, the Wotanin Wowapi newspaper on the Fort Peck Reservation in Montana will be honored by its own. The tribal council will hold a gala tonight in honor of the 32-year-old paper the and its editor Bonnie Red Elk. Red Elk has stuck with the paper through thick and thin, enduring early criticism and censorship from tribal leaders. But now the community can't imagine what life would be like without the weekly paper. Get the Story:
