The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission is "off base" by suing a non-Indian diner of discriminating against Navajo employees, The Farmington Daily-Times writes in an editorial today.

The paper says Steve Kidman, owner of RD's Drive-In, has a right to manage his business in a sound way Even if that means limiting where Navajo can and can't be used, the paper says.

"This is an instance of people abusing a privilege and the EEOC splitting hairs," the editorial states. "One employee told reporters there are just some things better said in Navajo. Like what, 'We need more fries?'"

The diner employs Navajos and caters to a large Navajo population. It is located next to the Navajo Reservation in northeastern Arizona.
