The 79th Shiprock Northern Navajo Fair ended on Saturday, drawing thousands of visitors to experience Navajo culture, arts and dances.

The centerpiece of the four-day event was the parade. Despite a change in route to alleviate traffic, cars moved "at a snail's pace" for more than eight hours on Saturday, The Farmington Daily-Times reported.

A reported 20,000 people watched the parade. The theme was "United in prayer for world peace" and featured an obligatory appearance by the Navajo Code Talkers.
