WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 9, 2002

Elouise Cobell, lead plaintiff in the Individual Indian Money (IIM) lawsuit, is described as "an activist of the people" for taking on the federal government's Indian trust debacle.

Several foundations provided money to initiate the case. The Otto Bremer Foundation in St. Paul, Minnesota; the John D. MacArthur Foundation and the Lannan Foundation have donated to the cause.
