The 79th Shiprock Northern Navajo Fair drew nearly 30,000 people to Shiprock, New Mexico, last weekend but police say a new parade route failed to alleviate traffic woes.

Traffic was backed for 10 hours for Saturday's parade. Police were forced to close roads, furthering the congestion.

The Shiprock Fair Board altered the route in hopes of reducing problems.
