WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 9, 2002 Mohegan tribal chairman Mark Brown is upset at a recent episode of the HBO mafia hit "The Sopranos" because he believes a tribal character was modeled after him. The September 29 episode portrayed a fictional "Mohonk" tribe with successful casino in Connecticut. Chief "Doug Smith" was a slick and young-looking entrepreneur who promises the Italians he will try and stop an anti-Columbus Day parade. An HBO spokesperson told The New London Day Smith is not modeled after Brown. The person would not give her name to the paper and refused to answer further questions. Brown said of the episode: "They can't do it to any other group, but we seem to be fair game. Personally, I think it's an attack on Indian Country." A nightclub in the show is called the Crazy Horse Club. Get the Story:
