A federal judge on Wednesday heard oral arguments in dispute over land the Narragansett Tribe of Rhode Island wants to use for elder housing.

The Bureau of Indian Affairs agreed to take 32 acres of land into trust. But the state fears the tribe will open a casino.

A Department of Justice attorney argued against forcing the tribe to sign any agreement on future uses.
