THURSDAY, OCTOBER 17, 2002 A public hearing was held on Wednesday for a proposed Alaska Native cultural and visitors center in Fairbanks. The center is joint tribal-public-private venture to showcase Alaska Native culture. It will be named in honor of the late Morris Thompson, the former chief executive of Doyon Ltd., an Alaska Native corporation. The partners are seeking $10 million from Congress to match an equal amount of private funds. Get the Story:
