Senate decides to adjourn for elections

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 18, 2002 The Senate on Thursday adjourned after failing to agree on legislation to create a new homeland security department. The chamber joins the House, which adjourned on Wednesday after passing a resolution to keep federal agencies funded. Both the House and the Senate will reconvene on November 12. Get the Story:
