A federal jury in Montana convicted a former Turtle Mountain Ojibwe chairman and an associate with embezzling more than $100,000 in tribal funds.

Raphael Decoteau was chairman in 1997 and 1998. He and Ronald Morin engaged in "systematic looting" of funds, the U.S. Attorney said.

Five others, including top tribal officials, have been charged for similar crimes.
